In the vast expanse of China's five-thousand-year history, Shen Kuo's diplomatic mission will reveal a tale as old as time - the story of Nuwa, who patched up the sky. This man was not only a crucial figure in settling disputes between Song Dynasty and Liao Empire but also a polymath scientist with an insatiable curiosity.

Shen Kuo's journey began when he was tasked by Emperor Song Zhenzong to negotiate with emissaries from Liao Empire. The dispute centered around a territory near Yellow River that both sides claimed as their own. Armed with his knowledge of geography and keen analytical mind, Shen Kuo gathered historical records and maps from previous negotiations to present his case before Emperor Song Zhenzong.

The emperor was pleased with Shen Kuo's preparation and commissioned him to lead another delegation to meet with Liao officials in person. There, they encountered Yang Yijian, who demanded that Yellow River be extended further southward into Song territory. However, Shen Kuo remained unfazed and presented irrefutable evidence based on geographical data collected during his travels.
