我，太上老君，曾在仙界中发现天庭缺乏的两样关键物品：能迅速恢复元气、增进修为的灵丹，以及厉害的法宝。为了弥补这一不足，我以自己的精元炼化出八卦炉，并借助芭蕉扇煽出的三昧真火与自身法力，让任何兵器法宝在其中产生脱胎换骨的变化。
八卦炉所炼出的仙丹，其效果神奇，如孙悟空吃下九转金丹后，全身变得刀枪不入，水火难侵。这一成果让我开始为天庭培育新的有生力量。我度人之多，但其中有八个特别有名的人物，因为法力高强、行侠仁义，他们被后世传颂至今，这就是八仙。
早在炎黄时代，有两个名不经传的神人，一位叫做黄神氏，一位叫做彳巨神氏，都是一心修道隐士。在东汉时期，黄神氏托生于大将钟离章家中，由于他一生下来就有3岁小儿般大，却无声啼哭7日才发声，被父亲钟离权起名为钟离权。然而，虽然文武全才，无一不精，可是在打仗却屡战屡败。运气不好，在一次又一次的大败之后，他遇到太乙真仙王玄甫，并得到了太阿神光剑和青龙剑法及长生真诀，最终脱尘归道，与我成为门下弟子之一。他曾写过三首绝句留传于世，其中“坐臣常携酒一壶，不教双眼识皇都”、“得道真仙不易逢，几时归去愿相从”等句写满了仙味十足。
另一位彳巨神氏原是赤松子的朋友，但赤松子名扬四海的时候，他只相当于地仙。不久之后，被黄帝统一中土后广招贤士找到他；他为了避世修行，便改名李凝阳。他长着魁梧而潇洒的一面，因为长期修道，看起来更像是个真正的仙人。但有一次，我带他游华山，他以元神出窍方式随我前往，而临行前叮嘱说七日即回。不过，那个晚上由于急事回去时忘记了身体，就往一个瘸子的尸体里跳，因此便成了瘸子…这让他顿悟：“道行高低，不在凡夫俗相。”
最后，还有张果老，以他的白驴日行万里闻名，而他的故事也非常丰富，比如倒骑驴游戏，以及悬葫济世等。尽管如此，与吕洞宾那样的影响最大、经历最奇、法力最高的地理师相比，他只是微不足道的小人物。而吕洞宾则因其坚持考取科举20余年而闻名，也因为其对学问深厚和恒心，对美好生活向往而一直考取未果直到46岁。但就在这一年，他遇到了汉钟离。
吕洞宾与汉钟離相见投缘，便邀请他一起到客栈聊天，聊到半夜。当他们谈论梦境时，吕洞宾梦见状元及第，然后平步青云，最终官至宰相，但是最终还是被重罪抄家流放，只剩下自己孤独一人。此刻，他醒来，只觉得汉钟離笑笑地说：“黄梁犹未熟，一梦到华胥。” 听罢此言，当即明白眼前的乃是位真正的大乘者，从此拜汉钟離为师学习 道术。
Han Zhongli then presented him with ten trials to test his sincerity in pursuing the Way. Among them, he once tested Lü Dongbin by bringing a beautiful woman to see if he could remain unmoved by worldly desires. After passing these trials, Lü Dongbin continued his journey and eventually met Fire Dragon True Person, obtaining the dual swords and mastering the "Heavenly Flight Sword Technique." He became known as one of the Northern Five Ancestors (Lü Zu) for his prowess in eliminating evil spirits and doing good deeds for ordinary people.
However, due to his romantic nature, Lü Dongbin also experienced a significant setback: the famous "Three Tricks on White Peony". White Peony was originally a flower demon who disguised herself as a courtesan in Luoyang City during her selection as Flower Queen. Enchanted by her beauty, Lü Dongbin transformed into an elegant scholar and visited her three times before revealing his true identity. Despite being initially repelled by him due to her high social status, she eventually fell for him after witnessing Lü Dongbin's mastery over magic.
This love affair led to further complications when it turned out that White Peony was actually a flower demon. Despite being torn between love and duty to eliminate evil spirits, Lü Dongbin found himself questioning some fundamental teachings about killing demons after falling deeply in love with this seductive spirit. With my guidance and support through all these events – including losing control of my treasure until only keeping one sword left - I watched him grow from an aspiring scholar into an accomplished sage worthy of respect among fellow immortals.
