The Tang Dynasty, also known as the Tang Empire or the Tang State, was a significant period in Chinese history that lasted from 618 to 907 AD. It is often referred to as "the Golden Age" of Chinese civilization due to its remarkable achievements in politics, economy, culture, science and technology. The dynasty was founded by Emperor Gaozu (also known as Li Yuan), who overthrew the Sui Dynasty and established his capital at Chang'an (modern-day Xi'an). Throughout its nearly three centuries of existence, the Tang Dynasty saw a total of twenty-four emperors take power.

One crucial aspect that contributed to this era's prosperity was the list of emperors themselves. These rulers played pivotal roles in shaping not only their own dynasties but also China's overall development. They were responsible for implementing policies that encouraged trade with neighboring countries like Korea and Japan; they supported Buddhism which led to an influx of foreign art styles; they fostered an environment conducive for literature, poetry and arts flourishing among scholars; they made significant advancements in mathematics and astronomy.

The first emperor on this list is Li Yuan who ruled from 618-626 AD under whose rule he brought stability after years of turmoil following Sui dynasty’s collapse. He chose Chang’an as his capital because it had been a major city during Han times but had fallen into disrepair during later periods making it ripe for revival.

Li Shimin succeeded his father Li Yuan becoming second emperor from 626-649 AD during whose reign he promoted Confucianism which became one authority alongside Buddhism Taoism etc., further solidifying Confucius' teachings’ place within society while continuing economic growth through increased trade with foreign nations especially along Silk Road routes connecting Asia Europe & Africa together creating vast wealth opportunities across multiple continents!

Emperor Taizong continued strengthening central government institutions such as civil service examinations system administrative hierarchy & military reforms creating efficient governance structure enabling faster decision-making process thus improving efficiency allowing them more time focus on innovation development rather than internal strife leading towards progress technological advancement scientific discoveries medical breakthroughs philosophical ideas artistic creations spiritual enlightenment all happening simultaneously without any single area overshadowing others contributing greatly towards overall flourishing state!
