朱尚炳，明太祖孙，秦愍王樉嫡长子，以洪武二十八年袭封秦王。永乐初，他平息了沔县人高福兴等的叛乱，并亲自抓捕了叛匪。然而，在永乐九年，当明成祖派使者至西安时，朱尚炳称疾不出迎，使者又表现出傲慢态度。成祖 subsequently arrested and punished the officials of the king's court, and sent a letter to Jushangbing, saying: "The Ziqing King was appointed as a vassal prince and eventually ruled over his country; Duke Jinghou was careless with jade but was criticized for it. You should learn from this." Jushangbing was frightened and came to the capital to apologize. The next year, in March, he passed away. He was posthumously titled as the Hidden King.
